JJ Noodle Cafe has been open quite some time and serves your typical Chinese food. So, what's so special about this place? A lot of other Chinese restaurants advertise themselves as "Hong Kong" style when it comes to their food, but I found this one to be the most accurate in terms of Hong Kong style. For starters, the portion sizes are very generous and the staff is very friendly. Furthermore, they have breakfast and lunch specials such as macaroni with ham as well as a congee (for those who are not familiar what congee is, it is porridge which is watered down rice until it has a pudding-like consistency). As an added bonus, you're allowed to bring in any kind of seafood such as crab, lobster, clams and have them cook it however you'd like for an additional charge of ten dollars. Earning five stars from me is extremely difficult, but I truly believe that this place is a solid 4 stars. The staff remains consistent but the wait for each dish comes out is rather slow. The decor is nice, but if the place gets packed, it feels really cramped. Overall this place is a solid 4 stars.

    Pros:

    +Friendly service
    +Consistent food quality
    +Clean interior
+Closest to a "Hong Kong Style" type of food

    Cons:

-Service is a bit on the slower side.
    -Place is a bit humid

I was excited to try this place out because it's a traditional HK Cafe. I wanted to come here for breakfast but I missed it. No worries, they have a Specials menu and there's something for all day. Since I came around lunch, I got the lunch special from 11AM-3PM for only $8.99 where you can choose Lunch Set A or B. Even within those lunch sets, they have options for you. If you don't care for the lunch sets, they do have other lunch specials that are just smaller portion than the dinner. However, prepare to use Google translate because there isn't an English menu for that.

My husband got the A Set with beef steak and spaghetti. I got the B Set with the HK Style Crispy Noodle. The sets came with 2 different types of soup and a drink. Man I was full and couldn't finish everything. It was so good.

Next goal, try the entire Specials Menu!

Came here for the first time for a quick lunch after a little grocery shopping and massage. Decided to stop by here while it was still during the "$8.99 Lunch Special" between 11AM - 3PM

Located next to SK Seafood, across the small street from Pho Saigon 8 and BBQ King, it is a new place which features a items from "Hong Kong Cafes". Combo specials labeled in letters, congee, pineapple bun w/ a slice of butter, ham and egg in macaroni soup, milk tea. All items typically offered at HK Cafes.

One of my friends had mentioned this place when it first opened but never had the chance to check it out.

Recently another friend had came here and showed my friends and I the special menu

    Special Breakfast Combo - $5.99 from 7am - 11am w/ free coffee/tea
    Lunch Special - $8.99 from 11am - 3pm w/ free borscht or soup/cofeee or tea/red bean ice (+$1.50)
    Lunch Special (more like Afternoon Tea) - $4.99 from 3pm - 5pm w/ free coffee/tea/drink
    Dinner Special - $11.99 for A or B, $9.99 for C or D from 5pm - 9pm w/ free coffee or milk tea/dessert
    Midnight Snack Special - $5.99 from 9pm - 11 pm w/ free coffee or milk tea/dessert

    For the 11am - 3pm Lunch special

    A - Chicken/Beef/Pork/Lamb (+$2)/Fish Steak + Spaghetti/French Fries/Rice
B - Lunch Meat & Figurine Noodles/Hong Kong Style Crispy Noodles/ Swine Risotto w/ Tomato Sauce/Rice/ Corn Meat Fries Rice (wtf is this LOL)

I had picked a Beef Steak w/ black pepper sauce (or tomato sauce) w/ spaghetti, and a ICED milk tea (+$1 for iced). I was given the option of either the "Russian Borsch" or "Chicken Chowder" for soup. Having no idea what "Russian Borsch" is, i opt'ed for "Chicken Chowder". Apparently Borsch is a famous russian soup made with veggies (mainly beet) w/ sour cream.

The "chicken chowder" has corn kernals and ground chicken chunks. Flavor is a bit light and thickened like a chinese chef would, probably with a slurry of corn starch and water.

The "spaghetti" is a light tomato sauced pasta. Simple. Sweet. Sliced fresh tomatoes and cucumbers on the side.
The "beef steak" is a thin piece of meat. On the lines of medium to medium well. Crispy edges. The accompanying "black pepper sauce" was light, almost same consistency as the "chicken chowder". Would have preferred the steak to be less cooked through and way more black pepper for a stronger flavor in the sauce.

Total for the meal was under $11 but they don't accept credit card as minimum is $20. Luckily I had cash on me.

Would like to come to try breakfast or afternoon tea items. This lunch was a bit un-impressive.

Even though they only got bad reviews just for opening 5 days, I still wanna give it a try.
We came in around 8 at night. There were two big tables and maybe 3 other small tables occupied with people so they are mildly busy. Service was not bad it was actually pretty quick. The owner greeted us and took our order herself. When we asked if they have the baked pork chop rice and she said yes so we got excited because that's what every Hong Kong style cafe should have but it's hard to master.

So we ordered two herbal soups, the baked pork chop rice and a beef chow fun.

The Chinese herbal soups are definitely a must try. Because it's their signature. So I would say those should be their beats

The beef in the chow fun is the best. But the beef and the flat noodle portion is off so I'm eating lots of beef but minimal chow fun. But the overall dish is still good.

The "baked pork chop rice" came out to be "onion with pork chop over rice" which is a huge disappointment. Because first the sauce was not tomato sauce, and the pork chop is too hard, and the sauce is too thick. I think the owner mistakenly think that baked pork chop rice is the same as their onion pork chop rice. Cos they are not the same. If the owner would've told me that they don't have what we think we have. We wouldn't have that high of an expectation and would not order that dish at all.

Overall i think they have lots room for improvement. The owner should learn the menu and know what the chef is cooking before she recommend things to people.

My wife and I were excited to try out this new place and we swung by for a quick dinner.

    Things I liked:
-Beef Brisket and Tendon Noodle Soup: very authentic dish, the brisket was tender and the tendon had the nice firm texture and the soup base tasted just like the ones you can find in Hong Kong.
-House Special Pork Chop Bun: the pork was seasoned properly, the bun was nice and soft, my favorite part was the bed of pickled cabbage, it gave the sandwich a nice crunch and extra layer of flavor.
-Sautéed Rice Noodle Roll with XO Sauce: it wasn't greasy and had the right amount of XO sauce. I had many of this dish from other places and often they sautéed it with way too much oil because they tried to avoid the rolls stick to the wok but the chef who prepared this dish was skilled enough and able to prepare the it without using too much oil.
-Service: the staff was friendly and attentive. Our server was the one who recommended the Brisket and Tendon to us.

    Thing that was just okay:
-Red Bean Ice: I love red bean ice but this one I had here was just okay. The first couple sips were fine but they put way too much ice and when the ice began to melt the whole drink got diluted quickly and turned watery. Also the drink can use a little more evaporated milk.

My wife and I liked this place and she even shared this place with her friends from Hong Kong in their text group during dinner.
